Greetings OGBES Families!
As you know, OGBES has been soliciting community input for the opportunity to become a 200-Day School, meaning school would begin 20 days earlier, July 22, 2024 as opposed to the regular start time of August 19, 2024. There are several benefits to the additional 20 days, most importantly, the opportunity to get to know our students, establish relationships, and determine the best way to support their academic, social, and emotional needs. The additional days would also allow us to provide experiential learning trips, community based exploration, and so much more!
The RPS Engagement team has made calls and stopped by the residences of many families to solicit input. However, we have only heard from approximately 50% of our families. If you HAVE NOT already shared your input, please take a few minutes to review the attached and provide input for the 200-Day School schedule decision. We would love to hear from each of you!

Afterschool tutoring program every Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm at OGBES.
Bus Transportation has started for this program. Bus departs at 5:30pm.

Testing will begin for grades 3-5 at 9:00 a.m. Both reading and math assessments will be administered over two days. Science for 5th grade will be given in one day.
- March 18-20th Reading Interim Test- 3,4, and 5th Grade
- March 21-22nd Math Interim Test-3,4,and 5th Grade
- March 25th Virginia Studies Interim Test- 4th Grade Only
- March 27th Writing Test- 5th Grade Only
- 5th Grade Science TBA
